Message from the Chair
Dr. Sophie Gitonga
Welcome to the Kenya Ear Nose and Throat Society.
On behalf of the Council and Members of the Society, I am pleased to welcome you to our official platform. The Kenya ENT Society brings together Specialists committed to advancing the science and practice of otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery in Kenya and the region.
ENT Practice in Kenya continues to evolve rapidly. We are seeing a significant diversification of our specialty, with increasing sub-specialization in areas such as otology and neurotology, rhinology and skull base surgery, allergy and sleep medicine, head and neck oncology, paediatric ENT, laryngology, speech and swallowing therapy and audiology. This growth reflects our collective commitment to meeting the complex and changing needs of our Kenyan and regional populations, while aligning with global standards of care.

The advantages of belonging to a professional body like the Kenya ENT Society (KENTS) are vast, yet often unseen. Beyond being a simple association, KENTS serves as the backbone of Otorhinolaryngology in East Africa, managing critical professional issues that individual practitioners cannot tackle alone.
Our activities are driven by an Executive Committee (EXCO), elected by members during the Annual General Meeting. These leaders serve the profession voluntarily and without remuneration, coordinating subcommittees dedicated to the advancement and protection of the ENT specialty in Kenya.
